I am forty years old… Although war has negatively affected my homeland, our strength and ability are stronger than the challenges, and we continue on… I work more than 20 hours daily and provide a decent livelihood for myself and my children, who are the most valuable in my life.

My name is Ahmed, and I am from the city of Kobani. Initially, I started working in an automatic bread-making factory and continued… As time passed, longing and love for the land pushed me to choose a new job: working in a beautiful garden. I have continuously taken care of it for seven years and planted lettuce there. Now, I have become a loyal friend to this fertile piece of land. Planting, growing, and then selling lettuce is not just work for me but also a source of income. I take tens of kilograms of lettuce to the markets daily and sell it for three thousand Syrian liras per kilogram. We, the people of Kobani and the villages, rely on agriculture for our livelihood.
